Hello and welcome!
I thought I would start this blog off with an introduction and a little about myself. I am Steve Robertson, the owner of First Home Inspections. I am happily married to my beautiful wife Angie. Between me and my wife, we have 5 children. The oldest is 32 and the youngest is 17 graduating next year and another 17-year-old graduating this year. I have over 30 years of experience in different realms of the construction industry. Started out at the age of 13 doing shingle roofing.
Not voluntary of course, but my father and brother had started a roofing company. They decided my help would be used with the grunt work of cleaning up and toting shingles. This over time opened up many different avenues and adventures with learning different parts of the construction trade. About the only thing I haven't done is pour concrete and lay brick. I've been told I have extremely high standards when it comes to the final product of whatever it is I am working on.
To me, it's the little details that matter, those add up to the bigger final product. The attention to little details is very important when doing a home inspection, so my clients reap the rewards.
When getting into home inspections, I made the decision to do exactly what I have been telling my children as they have been growing up and still do today. That is to treat others as you want to be treated. Adapting that to a home inspection was easy. I provide a home inspection for every client no matter how big or small the home is, the same quality I would want to be given if I were the client. This includes spending extra time with the client to explain the findings and making myself available to answer questions well after the inspection.
